John Boecker currently serves as Vice President, Regional Operations Manager for L. Robert Kimball & Associates, and concentrates his practice on designing High Performance Green Buildings. In recognition of his design work on the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Southcentral Regional Office Building, the Commonwealth’s First Green Facility, Mr. Boecker was awarded a 1998 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence pertaining to Energy Efficiency and Renewable Resources. This project was also distinguished by the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF) in 1998 as an international finalist for their Charles Pankow Award for Innovation. Additionally, this project was selected by the U.S. Green Building Council as one among the first twelve projects nationwide to receive LEED certification and by the United States team for Green Building Challenge 2000 (GBC) as one of three projects nationwide to represent the U.S. at GBC 2000 to be held in The Netherlands in October 2000. In addition, Mr. Boecker subsequently designed DEP’s Ebensburg Office Building and Shippenburg University’s Laboratory Elementary School, both designed to attain LEED certification. Mr. Boecker’s design work has won over 40 design awards, including 25 Citations for Design Excellence from the American Institute of Architects, and has been published in Architectural Record as well as several other national periodicals. He is also a member of the Sevengroup, a multi-disciplinary consulting group focused on green development.
