HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS BICYCLE ACROSS THE US
THEY STOP AT ART MUSEUM ON THE WAY TO THE JERSEY SHORE

Tim and Jackie Schlitzer with their two teenage daughters Erin and Amanda started on the California coast on June 21st to bicycle across America. 3,500 miles and eleven states later the journey ends this week in Sea Isle City, Jersey. The family traveled with an Audubon High School teacher and five other high school students. The group, called Pedaler's Express II, will stop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Wednesday, August 8 at 8:30 am.

Schlitzer who is the Executive Director of the Environmental Fund for Pennsylvania, a non profit group that produces the Emmy® award winning television series GreenWorks, began the trip, in part, as a unique way to spend time with his family. "We always wanted to see the country," Schlitzer said. "This way we're doing it together on bicycles under our own power."

Pedaler's Express II is the second cross-country bicycle ride Audubon, NJ teacher Richard Senior has organized and participated in. The cyclers camp and carry all their own equipment on their bikes without a support vehicle.

The group's progress has been charted on the www.GreenWorks.tv Web site. Photos from the trip and "audio postcards" on the site have allowed people at home to track the riders' progress and share in the fun, agony and adventure. Visitors to the site may make a contribution to receive a Pedaler's Express t-shirt. All contributions will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. So far the group has raised $2,622.52 for Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit group that helps build new homes for low-income families.

After stopping at the Art Museum, the group will get a police escort across the Ben Franklin bridge into New Jersey. The bicyclers will roll into Sea Isle City, New Jersey on Thursday, August 9 to complete their 50 day, cross-country bicycle journey.
