GREENWORKS FOR PENNSYLVANIA NOMINATED
FOR 2 EMMYS®
PHILADELPHIA (August 21, 2000) - The internationally award-winning
GreenWorks for Pennsylvania television program has been nominated
for two Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards by the National Academy
of Television Arts and Sciences. GreenWorks teaches viewers
about positive, innovative steps individuals, businesses and
communities are taking to improve the environment, as a way
to benefit health and quality of life.
The Academy nominated the entire GreenWorks series for Best
Public Affairs Series, and the GreenWorks episode "Faces
of the Farm" for Best Documentary Program.
The Emmy® awards, which honor excellence in
news and programming in the region, will be presented at the
2000 Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards Gala on Saturday
September 16.
"We are very excited to be nominated for this prestigious
award," said GreenWorks Executive Producer, Timothy Schlitzer.
"This nomination affirms that high-quality, positive,
inspiring programming is appreciated and valued in the mainstream
media."
Started in 1997, GreenWorks is produced monthly and each
month features a different environmental topic or theme, such
as sustainable agriculture, environmental education, watersheds,
and Erie and its environment. The program currently plays
on 81 television and public access stations throughout Pennsylvania,
and on the World Wide Web at http://www.greenworkschannel.org.
GreenWorks for Pennsylvania is a production of the Environmental
Fund for Pennsylvania (EFP), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
The series is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP).
