GREENWORKS FOR PENNSYLVANIA WINS
EMMY® FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC AFFAIRS SERIES
PHILADELPHIA (September 18, 2000) - The GreenWorks for Pennsylvania
television series has been awarded the 2000 Mid-Atlantic Emmy
for Outstanding Public Affairs Series.
In this category, GreenWorks was up against the New Jersey
Network (NJN), Thirteen WNET New York, the New Jersey Education
Association (NJEA), and Philadelphia's NBC-10. This is GreenWorks'
first Emmy®; the show's other honors include: acceptance
into the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema; the Council
of State Governments Innovation Award; four Telly Awards;
and more. The Mid-Atlantic Emmy® is an award of the National
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Philadelphia Regional
Chapter.
GreenWorks, a thirty-minute, monthly program that spotlights
ordinary people taking innovative, positive steps to make
a difference in the environment, received two Emmy nominations;
this one for Outstanding Public Affairs Series, and another
for Outstanding Documentary Program.
GreenWorks Executive Producer Timothy Schlitzer said, "This
award not only recognizes GreenWorks, but it salutes the hard-working
individuals, businesses, and communities that we spotlight
in our show. These people go above and beyond the call of
duty in helping the environment, and we thank them for helping
make GreenWorks a success."
Beginning its fourth season, each month GreenWorks features
a different environmental topic or theme, such as sustainable
agriculture, watersheds and Erie and its environment. The
program currently plays on 81 television and public access
stations throughout Pennsylvania and on the World Wide Web
at www.greenworks.tv.
The Emmy was awarded September 16, at the 2000 Emmy®
