GREENWORKS, PIONEERING ENVIRONMENTAL TELEVISION,
COMES TO WYBE
PHILADELPHIA (November 3, 2000) GreenWorks
for Pennsylvania, the Emmy award winning television series
about positive ways Pennsylvanians tackle environmental
challenges, will begin a season run on WYBE
Public Television, on Saturday, November 4. GreenWorks
is produced in Philadelphia.
This is GreenWorks' first series run on public
television since its inception in 1997.
"We are thrilled that WYBE is including GreenWorks
in their lineup," said Tim Schlitzer, Executive Producer
of GreenWorks. "This is proof that meaningful, community-building
television is alive and well in the Delaware Valley."
GreenWorks also airs on Public Access stations
throughout Pennsylvania, including Drexel University's DUTV.
Individual GreenWorks episodes have also aired on public
television stations, including WHYY-TV 12.
GreenWorks is a television news magazine
about the visionaries among us who make environmental protection
part of their everyday lives. The steps they take, small
though they may seem, show that health and quality of life
are linked to environment, and that each of us can have
a positive impact on our own communities. GreenWorks is
a storyteller that inspires the public.
In September, GreenWorks won the 2000 Mid-Atlantic
Emmy for Outstanding Public Affairs Series. The show's other
accolades include Telly Awards and placement in the US International
Film and Video Festival and the 2000 Philadelphia Festival
of World Cinema.
GreenWorks will air on WYBE Saturdays at 1 pm. WYBE airs
on channel 35 in Philadelphia, and on other channels in
surrounding areas.
GreenWorks for Pennsylvania is a production
of the Environmental Fund for Pennsylvania, a non-profit
organization. The series is funded by the Pennsylvania Department
of Environmental Protection (DEP), individuals and corporate
donors.
