"It's a bike, you know, every kid has a bike. Everybody knows how to ride a bike, it's just an accepted thing."

After ten years as a boy scout, Central Bucks East High School tenth grader Jeff Christianson, is about to reach the top of the ranks. In order to become an eagle scout, Christianson needs to do a major public service project ... so he's collecting no-longer-used bicycles to send overseas.

Working with the non-profit group, pedals for progress, Christianson wants to send as many bikes as he can to developing nations in South America and Africa.

"It really makes a change in their lives. Doctors can make housecalls that are farther away. Children can go to schools that they wouldn't normally be able to get to. It just really gives the people there an opportunity that many Americans take for granted."

Christianson has been publicizing the event in local newspapers and by posting flyers on every storefront and bulletin board he can find.

The bicycle collection will take place October 5th at Doylestown United Methodist Church. More information's available on the web at GreenWorks.tv. I'm Brad Linder.
