Sue "The Spoon" Wiseman was one person who played a significant role in getting this organization started. She had the courage to stir things up when she initiated the clean up of an illegal dumpsite near her home. At the time, there wasn't a support system for her to contact so she had to tackle the issue on her own. Fortunately, Sue had the vision to realize that it was going to take more than just hauling out trash to solve the problem. Education would need to somehow play a major part in successfully keeping the area clean.

Sue shares her thoughts on how they approach cleanups and her story behind getting involved and its' rewards.

Today, the PA CleanWays organization is staffed with knowledgeable folks who understand this part of the process. Becky Izzo is the Public Education Coordinator for PA CleanWays who began her connection to the organization as a volunteer. Becky discusses Project Trash, which teaches schools about addressing littering and dumping so students can learn how to problem solve the issue. She shares with us a story about a 6th grade class making a difference by taking charge of recycling in their school.
