Listen to Ed Kron discuss the many benefits of his environmentally friendly Kronosport vehicles.

This month’s rough terrain took a ride on a Kronosport, a vehicle that is helping bring the future of alternative transportation one step closer. These new no-emission vehicles combine human and electric power, to make a ride that’s environmentally friendly and good for you. Kronosport Inc., located in Philadelphia, PA, is dedicated to making the Kronosport, not just an alternative, but a mainstream way of getting around.

What are Kronosports?

Kronosports are a combination of a go-cart and bicycles, offered in the form of a pedicab (a peddle driven rickshaw), truck or van. Capable of moving at 18 mph, and carrying 450 pounds, makes them a useful addition almost anywhere, including golf courses, zoos, universities, and industrial parks. And since they attract attention wherever they go, they make perfect advertising device for any organization. And best of all they’re helping the environment to pollution free future.

How it began?

Ed Kron founded Kronosport inc., in 1997, after acquiring exclusive manufacturing and distribution rights for three alternative vehicles, from the developers in England. Through numerous grants and loans, such as a $200,000 opportunity grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development, and a $60,000 low interest loan from Ben Franklin Technology partners, he has managed to gain a lot of interest in these no-emission vehicles. Combined with great media coverage at events such as the GOP Convention, which leased several vehicles, he is well on his way to achieving his goals of wide market acceptance. Not only is he working for a better environment, but in the process is developing hundred of new jobs in Philadelphia.
