Bob Haines (78), the mentor of the TNT crew, continues to play an integral role on this team. He sat down with me to share how he got started and why Pennypack is special to him.



Walt Sawyer (78) stopped hauling manure in the Gator tractor for a few minutes to tell me about the moment he decided he was to get involved instead of just watching others do the work.



Hal Phillips (73) describes the role each member of the TNT crew plays and how Pennypack Park impacts the community as well as his life and why that motivated him to volunteer.

Roland Williams (49) first creates a sense of place for the Pennypack and then offers insight into the restoration project they are working on as a result of thoughtless human abuses that have occurred over time.




Bill Henderson (65), the newcomer to the crew, discusses why he became involved and what it’s important to maintain the park for the community.



Jim Smythe (59) shares his thoughts on why he became involved with the group and what the park means to him.

Jackie Olson is the volunteer coordinator for the three Northeast Philadelphia parks. She talks about the role the TNT crew plays for the Fairmount Park Commission and expresses her thoughts on this treasured bunch of characters and what makes this park unique (from the perspective of the people).
