Organic farming produces food without the use of pesticides. This keeps chemicals off the food you consume, prevents runoff into local water supplies, and naturally sustains the land. Many believe that exposure to pesticides can cause significant health problems and children are particularly vulnerable.
The United States Department of Agriculture is currently in the process of implementing a National Organic Program to market organic food and provide assurance to consumers that uniform standards are used.
