This episode of the award winning GreenWorks TV show examines ways
we can improve energy efficiency as well as clean energy resources
available to us.

A sample lesson from the PA Department of Environmental Education's-watch
as the seventh grade class of "Environmental Ed" learn
about energy waste by participating in "cookie strip mining";

Doris Watson, a Philadelphia senior citizen who received assistance
in making her home more energy efficient from the Energy Coordinating
Agency;

The Allegheny Power Company of Westmoreland County and its
commitment to support nonprofit environmental organizations,
including PA CleanWays, an organization that helps communities
in western Pennsylvania clean up and recycle illegal dumps and
litter;

Waste Management, USX, and the Exelon Corporation, three companies
in Bucks County that came together to develop technology that
uses waste methane produced by landfills as a fuel for industry;

George Horst, a Lancaster County dairy farmer who uses methane
gas from cattle waste to power his farm, and even makes money
from it by selling extra power back to the electric company;

A sampling of innovative uses of solar power throughout the
Commonwealth including: solar-powered signs on the PA Turnpike;
a solar-heated Laundromat in Stowe, Montgomery County; the Solar
Shine Car Wash in Chambersburg, Franklin County; and a solar-powered
race car built by Messiah College engineering students in Grantham,
Cumberland County;

Jim Crater-inventor, environmentalist, and energy product collector-who
has developed a solar-powered Porsche, a truck that runs on
vegetable oil, and other fascinating ways to make life more
energy efficient.
GreenWorks TV hosts Tom Sexton and Jaime Smith come to you from
Eckley Miners' Village in Luzerne County. Tom and Jaime take you
on a tour of this century-old mining town that has been preserved
with volunteer guide Janette Daniels.
