Philadelphia:
Major Lighting Changes for Pollution Prevention

GreenWorks Environmental Tourist Gabrielle Mahler visits Philadelphia,
which is upgrading lighting in all city-owned buildings, streetlights,
and traffic lights to make them more energy efficient and to reduce
emissions. So far, the changes have saved 23 million tons of carbon
dioxide emissions from being released into the air and have won the
city a 1999 Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence.
