Breathing New Life
Into a Deserted Industrial Site
Length: 5 minutes
GreenWorks Environmental Tourist Gabrielle Mahler visits
the Bethlehem Steel Mill, which closed a few years ago. Not
only did the company produce the steel that built this country,
but it was also the lifeblood of the Bethlehem community.
Giving the land back to the community, by rebuilding the industrial
site into an education and recreation complex, has won this
company a 1999 Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence.
Produced by the Environmental
Fund for Pennsylvania for the GreenWorks for Pennsylvania
television program entitled, Gabrielle's
Environmental Excellence Adventure. Watch the entire
