Lake
Erie Faces Non-Native Species
Length: 6 minutes
Sea Grant advises residents of the Erie area about fish and other
wildlife that has been impacted by pollution in the Lake. Two species
Sea Grant works with are the round goby fish and the zebra clam, both
of which convey toxins through the food chain. It is part of the National
Sea Grant program. The introduction of non-native species can pose
real threats to ecosystems, as they do here. Advice from groups like
Sea Grant help us deal with situation like this one. Produced
by the Environmental Fund for Pennsylvania as part of the GreenWorks
for Pennsylvania Television show entitled, Erie
and Its Environment.
