We are pleased to present the accomplishments of the 2001 Governor's Award for Watershed Stewardship winners' watershed protection achievements to date:

Partnerships
• 12 watershed organizations formed
• 261 partnerships formed
• 2,000 stakeholders Assessments & Information Systems
• 127 streams impacted by abandoned mine drainage identified
• 2 inventory databases created
• 5 Geographic Information System (GIS) databases developed

Restoration Activities
Mining
• 5 abandoned mine drainage (AMD) treatment systems installed
• 8 acres of abandoned mine land reclaimed
• 6.2 miles of AMD-impacted stream improved Non-Mining
• 9 stormwater detention facilities constructed
• 1,000 pounds trash removed
• 35,781 feet of streambank fencing installed
• 1,190 acres of wetlands created
• 16,151 trees and shrubs planted
• 43,221 feet of riparian buffer restored
• 12 in-stream habitat improvement structures erected
• 3,700 feet of streambank stabilized
Land Preservation
• 9,425 acres of green space preserved
• 900 acres placed into conservation easement Education & Training • 884 people attended training and workshops
• 16,951 students and teachers participated in watershed education programs
• 25 municipalities, organizations, landowners and schools received technical assistance
